If you are looking for a good, free desktop notes type program then try DeskNotes. I use this program for weeks now, and although it does not introduce any new features or spin on common desktop Sticky notes program concept, it manages to be a very useful and reliable programs yet.
If you happen to use the Outlook may be relieved to know that you can synchronize notes DeskNotes. But even if you do you probably wanted DeskNotes anyway. features include: formatting for notes, bills of Exchange (search) hierarchy, emailing music, timed reminders, notes to hide the tray icon menu system and display them again to view the desktop and the ability to take note of the "toggle" that is displayed on the taskbar and Windows ' Alt + Tab switching text.
There's lots of good free desktop notes software and I first started looking at this one thought to write a post that compares the best free desktop notes applications that host may or may not be implemented in the future; for a while, but what I know now after using DeskNotes for a while that it's a damn fine piece of software that is written.
Here are some notes on this program:
Wish list (or how this program can be even better)
Hide all notes keyboard shortcuts: although quite a few shortcuts that perform various functions like () keyboard shortcut to hide and show notes all at once collectivley and (b editing keys shortcuts. I always wish there would be a scrapbook where notes will minimize as tabs at the top or right side of the screen, but I digress.
Verdict: what I like about this program that you can keep the "clear", notes free desktop if you want to use for notes that can be displayed only when you need them (or have chosen to retain those visible at all times, your choice). I would also like the light on memory and does not weigh down my system.
DeskNotes does nothing flashy: it's just a good, secure, desktop Sticky notes program that does what it does well. it lacks some of the more esoteric features that are there, such as other users, but I never cared a lot anyway. overall, highly recommended.
For other programs, notes, check sheets, Blow Sticker and unusual Sticky Sorter.
Testing version: 2.2.1

Protect your sensitive data with this free open-source disk encryption software. Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a real disk. Encrypt an entire hard disk partition or a device, such as USB flash drive. Automatically and transparently encrypt in real time.

TrueCrypt provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password: a hidden volume (steganography- more information may be found here); no TrueCrypt volume can be identified (volumes cannot be distinguished from random data). TrueCrypt uses encryption algorithms AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5, Serpent, Triple DES, and Twofish. It is based on Encryption for the Masses (E4M) 2.02a, conceived in 1997.

Version 6.1 includes new features such as parallelized encryption/decryption on multicore processors/systems, the ability to create and run an encrypted hidden operating system whose existence is impossible to prove (Windows Vista/XP/2008/2003), and the ability to encrypt an entire system drive even if it contains extended/logical partitions (Windows Vista and Windows 2008).

Keeping your PC running like a champ requires a bit of maintenance now and again. For your money, you could do much worse than Ashampoo WinOptimizer, a clean, fast, and professional-looking application with a robust tool set.

The fastest route to optimization is from the One-Click Optimization feature, accessible from your desktop or from a tab on the program interface. For spot-checking or to oversee your own changes, you can click the Modules tab within the application and hand pick among the 21 included tools grouped smartly into six categories.

In addition to a laundry list of system tweaks you can manually or automatically configure, WinOptimizer backs up your registry so you can undo critical mistakes. New to version 6, it also stores a list of most-often used tools alongside some decent stats on your use of each module. Those of you following the progress of Skype's beta series for version 4.0 already know that the seminal VoIP caller has been striving to get people interested in--and even aware of--Skype other features by rearranging its program's interface in time for version 4.0.

On Thursday, Skype released Skype 4.0 beta 3 for Windows, the third--and as far as we know, final--beta in the development series.

In addition to Internet telephony, Skype wants to make it easier to switch among IM and phone conversations, to place calls to non-Skype users' mobile phones and landlines, and to jump on board its video chats, which, the company admitted, most users either weren't using or didn't know existed.

At each of the three stages, Skype has daubed on more features that build from its very rough first attempt. In version 4.0 beta 3, the ability to scroll and search through your history is the punchiest addition; you can also filter by activity type.

There's also a new download manager for file transfers, a subtle visual "chrome" treatment when you switch into compact view (from the View menu), and a bandwidth manager. To keep Skype stalkers at bay, the company has added the option to report blocked users as abusive. As always, use this feature with care.

Laying it out on the table

While Skype is still accepting feedback to influence the final design, the essentials haven't changed much from the beginning, and the next release will almost assuredly arrive as the final version. Yet, there are still some visual flaws and an empty storefront. Skype's engineers may run out of releases in which to test new functionality.

Skype users, too, are calling for more visual personalization in the instant messenger, and are calling out against Skype's yanking of Skypcasts, which officially shut down in September 2008.

Beta number three is also missing birthday reminders and public chats, both slated for this release.

As seen from the air, Skype's 4.0 beta is shaping up into a communications tool that will fulfill its mission to streamline its app and make it more engaging on all fronts. Up close, however, the final release of 4.0 will need more cleanup if it's to really redefine how it's used.
